Restaurant in the Vault
Adaptive reuse · completed
The brief
A restaurant inserted into a former bank vault. The brief was to honor the heaviness of the existing structure while delivering an interior that reads as warm, intimate, and alive after dark.

Design narrative
The intervention is reduced to three moves. A single curved oak banquette wraps the central room, holding the diner in a soft horizon. A linear ceiling element — a single brass strip running the length of the space — carries every fixture and lifts the eye. The original concrete vault and steel doors are cleaned and left exposed. Lighting is warm, low, and entirely indirect. The room feels old, but never tired.
