Gallery Courtyard
Urban infill · completed
The brief
A small commercial gallery inserted into a tight urban site. The challenge: bring north light into a building with no clear sky on three sides, and produce circulation generous enough to pause in.

Design narrative
The building is organized as a stepped section, with a single roof-light slot running the length of the volume on its north flank. Galleries occupy the lower three levels; a private viewing room and a small office sit above. The street facade is rendered in a single dark plaster, deliberately quiet against the surrounding masonry, with one deep cut for the entry. Inside, the surfaces are pale and the floor is a continuous polished concrete — a stage for the work, never competing with it.
